About Pack 242
Cub Scout Pack 242 is part of Scouting America and serves families in Aquia Harbour, Virginia and the surrounding community. We are chartered by the Aquia Harbour Property Owners Association and belong to the National Capital Area Council.
A family pack
Pack 242 is a family pack: parents and guardians are part of the adventure. Scouts are grouped by grade into dens (Lion through Arrow of Light), and all the dens together make up the pack.
What we do
- Den meetings and monthly pack meetings, September through May
- Fall and spring campouts and overnights
- Service and conservation projects
- The Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold Banquet, and Crossover
- Community events like the 4th of July parade, Cops & Bobbers, and the Bike Rodeo
- Summer adventures including day camp, paddle craft day, and Pack the Pool
Our values
Cub Scouting helps youth grow in character, citizenship, and personal fitness. Scouts learn to do their best, help others, and take care of the world around them — all while having fun with friends and family. Scouts live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Uniforms
Pack 242 uses two uniforms:
- Class A — the official uniform (shirt, hat, belt, neckerchief and slide),
worn for most indoor and formal events
- Class B — the Pack activity t-shirt, worn for outdoor, active, and service events

Serving our community
Pack 242 participates in Scouting America's America 250 programs, including Impact 365 (community service hours), Liberty in Action, and Scouts in Action — giving back while having fun.
Leadership
Pack 242 is run by parent volunteers and a Pack Committee. For 2026–2027, our Key 3 are:
