Join Pack 242
Joining is easy, and you're welcome to come see what we're about before making any commitment. There are no fees and no uniform required just to visit.
How to get started
- Come to an event. Check the Calendar and drop by — no
sign-up needed to visit.
- Talk to us. Email [email protected]
with your child's grade and any questions.
- Register. We'll help you complete registration through Scouting America's
official system, Scoutbook Plus.

The cost for youth to join is $165 (Scouting America national + council fees), plus Pack 242 dues — see below.
Who can join
- Youth in kindergarten through fifth grade (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, Arrow of Light).
- Boys and girls are both welcome — Pack 242 is a family pack.
- Families are encouraged to participate; Cub Scouting is a family program.
- We traditionally draw from Widewater and Hampton Oaks elementary schools,
but welcome all families.
Costs

- A military family fee waiver is available through Scouting America.
- Pack dues cover awards and advancements, special events like the Pinewood Derby
and Rain Gutter Regatta, and activity costs.
- Scouts can offset costs by fundraising. Popcorn sales can earn up to $900
per Scout in Scout Account funds (see the Parent Packet).
